Royal Hospital
Royal Hospital - 10 minutes by foot
Built in 1692 this imposing building was commissioned by King Charles II and designed by Sir Christopher Wren (who also designed St Paul's Cathedral) as a home for retired and injured soldiers. Its inhabitants, recognised by their famous red uniform, continue to reside in it and can often be seen walking in the surrounding streets. Visitors can enjoy the extensive gardens and also the small but interesting museum. Regular concerts and other events are held at there throughout the year. Each year the famous Chelsea Flower Show is held in the Royal Hospital gardens (see below).
